Learn about Wingram's BioAcetate S70

BioAcetate is designed to have stronger eco-friendly and performance characteristics/properties and functions to conventional Cellulose Acetate (CA).

BioAcetate S70 is an eco-friendly and sustainable replacement to conventional CA. Against the backdrop of the worldwide environmental crisis, we believe that it is important as a raw materials plastics provider to innovate and take action to provide solutions to our environmental problems.

In particular, BioAcetate S70 seeks to solve the issues of traditional petroleum derived plastics used in the industry by being a material that is better in both (1) practical performance-wise and (2) its environmental impacts.

BioAcetate S70 is known to be the next generation of alternative eyewear material for eco-friendly eyewear.

For handmade acetate frames, people call it acetate 2.0.

The sustainable material is known have numerous eco-friendly benefits while offering strong performance benefits as well.

Primary Applications:

  • Injection Molding Applications
  • Acetate Sheets/Slabs Applications

Alternative Applications:

  • Household Appliances
  • Electronic Cigarette Parts
  • Smart Phone Covers

One of the main advantages of BioAcetate S70 is that it is Hardness Enhanced CA (HECA), which means that BioAcetate S70 is a hardened material. Yet, it is hardened in a while with flexibility (allows for the material to not be stiff and brittle).

As one can imagine, this has many practical applications. To illustrate, a stronger and more durable material that does not sacrifice in performance (BioAcetate S70) allows for more flexibility in eyewear design (for example: thinner eyewear frames designs to be made).

Furthermore, there is protection against the end product deforming.

BioAcetate S70 is a unique and flexible material that is suitable for 3 main types of Eyewear:

  • Handmade acetate frames
  • Injection frames
  • Injection Acetate Frames (injected frames that look and feel like handmade frames, but with the scalability of injection frames).

Yes, unlike traditional acetate, BioAcetate S70 is intended both for injection molding and acetate sheet productions.

BioAcetate S70 has a grade that is specifically optimized for injection

We have done extensive testing on our BioAcetate S70. All of our environmental claims are tested and verified by strict third-party institutions and laboratories.

In more general terms, however, it is almost impossible to verify if a product is biodegradable or biobased because most people don't have the expertise, environment, and time for it. That is why we believe it is important that consumers educate themselves in the current standards and certifications that govern these areas. All of Wingram's products are certified from reputable third-party institutions. In the case of our Bio Acetate S70, institutions such as OWS from Belgium, and Beta Analytic from the US, as well as SGS from Switzerland have confirmed our environmental claims.

We believe that international testing standards are there to bridge the asymmetric informational gap between producers and customers. Therefore, all our testing and results are publicly displayed under our "Certifications" page.
